Human Organ Trafficking And Organized Crime. The Transplantation of Organs can be correlated to the most basic economic principle—supply and demand. Historically, demand for organs has always been higher than the supply. Allocating extremely scarce organs for transplantation presents a formidable ethical challenge to the transplant community.

Human Organ Trafficking And Organized Crime. The shortage of legal organs to be donated coupled with long transplantation lists, has led to Organized Criminal Networks involved in ORGAN TRAFFICKING. People sometimes donate a kidney in exchange for cash payment or organs are illegally harvested from unwilling participants. The organized criminal networks include brokers, physicians, surgeons, hospital administrators, nurses, and other health professionals who practice outside of the law. Organ trafficking or trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal, is one component of human trafficking. Such coercive and brutal exploitation is, undoubtedly, the equivalency of modern day slavery. The illegal organ trade, as a whole, consists of these different practices which are nominally defined as “organ trafficking”, “trafficking in persons for organ removal”, “organ sales”, “transplant commercialism”, and “transplant tourism”. http://europepmc.org/abstract/med/26612382

The majority of Americans are completely unaware about Organ Trafficking. But its an ever increasing and economically profitable illegal business.  The first known U.S. case of Organ Trafficking occurred in 2011 when Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, an Israeli citizen who lived in New York, admitted to brokering black market sales of kidneys to three Americans and making approximately $410,000 in the process. Interestingly, none of the Americans who received the trafficked organs were prosecuted. The sale of organs is illegal but the United States has chosen to do very little to stop organ trafficking under its current laws. https://www.law.utah.edu/organ-trafficking-more-than-just-a-myth/

The Mexican Cartel’s Unspoken Child Organ Harvesting Ring. Reports of a Mexico child organ trafficking ring emerged in 2014 when authorities suspected the Knights Templar cartel of kidnapping children and harvesting their organs for sale on the black market. Human organ trafficking is an issue in many developing countries where people are tricked into selling, and even donating, kidneys and other body parts. These organs are sold to wealthy foreigners who desperately need them.

Human Organ Trafficking And Organized Crime. However, in Mexico, this illegal trade took a disturbing turn when the organs being harvested started coming from kidnapped children. This details of how these innocent children were trapped, held hostage, and violently invaded for their body parts are gruesome and sad. Though, at least in the 2014 case of the Mexican drug cartel’s human organ trafficking scheme, the police caught on and were able to save lives. https://www.ranker.com/list/mexico-child-organ-harvesting/amandasedlakhevener
